ALTR Create Easter Holiday Programme

ALTR CREATE HOLIDAY PROGRAMME

The ALTR Group prioritises understanding the whole person and uses this specialist knowledge, skill and understanding to inform accessible and inclusive holiday courses for young people.

ALTR CREATE is aimed at young people with additional needs age 11 to 19, who want to get creative during the school holiday.

This is a fun and exciting opportunity to explore themes and express ideas in a low demand, safe space with specialist staff, who are adept at modifying tasks and activities to make them accessible to all young people with a variety of SEND needs.

Each session will include a range of activities to help build confidence, communication and social skills as well as having a daily focus on tools to self-support wellbeing.

This week-long programme will focus on a theme chosen by the young people during the first day. They will then be supported to explore that theme in whatever form they prefer, this could include:

  • Poetry
  • Dance
  • Music
  • Drama
  • Prose
  • Film
  • Photography
  • Art

At the end of the week, the course will conclude with an exhibition to celebrate the young people’s efforts, which parents/carers are welcome to attend.

MEETING NEED

Assessment will be undertaken by a qualified SENCo to ensure we can meet needs and to ensure that transition opportunities are available, should they be considered beneficial, prior to any young person starting.

Notes

We are very excited to announce the arrival of two new clubs for 11-19yr olds, taking place over the Easter break.

ALTR Create – Tues. 2nd – Fri. 5th April, 9am – 3pm - A week of inspiration and creation, culminating in a show case of pupils’ work, which parents/carers are welcome to attend. (Due to the nature of this week’s activities, bookings must include all 4 days.)

ALTR X – Tues. 9th – Fri. 12th April, 9am – 3pm - A fun and relaxing, activities based, social group. (Bookings for the whole week preferred, but single days will be considered, if numbers allow.)

Many parents have shared with us the struggles faced in finding holiday care support that meets the needs of the young people in their lives with neurodivergence. Young people have also shared with us how difficult they find the holiday periods, that they want to build friendships and that keeping in a routine of leaving the house makes returning to college or school less daunting. We hope that access to the holiday clubs will support them with this.

Our holiday clubs are delivered in a SEND and sensory friendly environment that your young person may already be familiar with. If required, we can arrange a transition meeting prior to any young person starting and take time to ensure that the activities we will be delivering will meet the needs of the young people taking part.

If you have any questions or would like to secure a place on either or both clubs, please don’t hesitate to get in touch using hello@altrrise.com

Please include in your email the name and date of birth of your young person/people, a brief summary of needs, which dates you are interested in and a contact number.
