Wilstead Pre-School

We are a small village committee run Preschool in Wilstead situated behind the Primary School. We take children from age 2yrs 6 months until age 4years 11 months and accept Government funding for 2, 3, and 4 year olds. We are open term time only and offer morning, afternoons and full day sessions with an option to add breakfast or afterschool care if required.

Our vision is for our children to grow, flourish and reach their full potential in an environment that is accessible to all, we are child led and rich with wonder and opportunities. The children benefit from a wide range of play and learning both indoors and outdoors. We operate free flow between our garden and playroom during our sessions and also regularly explore our local environment such as walks to the woods, visiting the church, allotments and the Primary School's forest school area. 

Early identification and support of emerging SEN needs is vitally important to us and we have therefore curated a small dedicated team of staff who focus solely on supporting any child with additional needs. Our team is led by an experienced SENCO who has a NCFE CACHE level 3 award for special educational needs coordinators in early years settings. Our SENCO is Makaton trained and all the SEN staff are confident to implement communicative techniques such as object exchange, visual schedules and Now and Next boards. Our Setting has undertaken a SEN audit (NASEN) and is proud of our accessible building and dedicated SEN areas. Our SEN staff are skilled and experienced at identifying SEN needs and work collaboratively with multi agencies, such as the Early years support team, 0-19 team,
