St Joseph's & St Gregory's School Nursery

A friendly nursery set within the grounds of our school on Chester Road, Queen’s Park.

We offer places to children from the beginning of the school term after they are three. If children are eligible for funding, we can offer places to two-year-olds.

Nursery sessions are from 8:30-11:30 in the morning and from 12:30-3:30 in the afternoon. Extended care is available for a small charge, provided there are sufficient staff on duty to care for the children.

Whilst children are in our nursery we ensure that we regularly monitor their progress against their early learning goals. If we are concerned about a child’s progress we have a very robust process to identify additional needs and to help them make progress. In our last inspection it was reported that ‘Children in Nursery and Reception settle well each day. They benefit from the clear routines and calm environment established by staff. Children learn to use new words and communicate confidently. Staff plan purposeful, motivating activities. They know, and meet, children’s needs extremely well.’

We have an established team who are confident and skilled in supporting children with SEND and their emerging needs as we are aspirational for all of our children. SEND is an important part of our school development and staff are trained across a number of areas. We have an experienced new SENDCo, who is going to complete the new award in 2024. We have a strong ethos of inclusion, and this is supported by a team of staff who work to support the children and their families.  We work closely with a multitude of agencies, to ensure that we get the right help at the right time for the right child.
