Christ Church Preschool

Christ Church Pre-School has been established since 1977 and has progressed following the EYFS when it was introduced 2008. Christ Church has recently undertaken a new project to extend and refurbish the halls in 2018, expanding the build designed to high ECO specification with CO2 and temperature detectors and opening a spacious environment for the pre-school to operate.

Our Ambition is that every child should:

· Feel Safe, confident, valued and happy.

· Be respected, listening to and heard.

· Enjoy and take full advantage of all opportunities in a balanced and interesting curriculum.

· Benefit from productive partnership between children, families and staff.

· Acquire knowledge, skills and positive experiences.

· Understand how to keep safe and stay healthy

· Celebrate and value diversity.

We aim is to provide a safe and caring setting in which we offer opportunities for children to learn and develop emotionally, intellectually and physically. Encouraging the development of self-esteem and confidence as they lead on to their full-time educational journey. We encourage varied play supporting individual learning style working with parents and carers building on successful parent partnerships between family and pre-school staff. Practitioners will provide opportunities for progression, extension and challenge through observation and in accordance with the EYFS curriculum. An assigning key person for every child who will plan next steps for your child’s development and record observations using a tracking journal called Tapestry that parents can access and add too should they wish to.

Christ Church Pre-School is a well-established group providing a child centred setting for up to 32 children aged 2 - 4 years old. It is managed by an elected committee of pre-school parents and friends and employs 7 staff members. Christ Church Pre-School benefits from the experience and stability of a long-standing staff team and a high adult: child ratio. Staff endeavour to provide an environment in which all children are supported to reach their full potential. Children enjoy taking part in special events which take place in the pre-school calendar, such as the Autumn Walk, Nativity Play, Easter Bonnet Parade and Summer outings. We work closely with the Early Years Team at Bedford Borough and other support services such as the SENDCO, (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities coordinator), SALT (Speech and Language team), ECP, (Early Childhood

Partnerships), Support Services for parenting support, expectant parents, carers and families with children up to five years old.
