Early Years Ready Family, Ready Child.

Being ready for school involves more than the child. Families, PVIs, childminders and schools need to work together to support the child to be ready for the transition to school.

The United Nations World Fit for Children (WFFC) reinforces the importance of “A good start in life, in a nurturing and safe environment that enables children to survive and be physically healthy, mentally alert, emotionally secure, socially competent and able to learn”.

As a parent, you are your child’s most enduring educator- after all, you have been supporting your child with lifelong skills from the very start and know your child best.

Providing children with the best start in life is at the heart of what we all want to achieve. In Bedford Borough we have encompassed the Unicef model for readiness for school to help us with this ambition.

The ‘Ready Family, Ready Child’ clips and guidance will support you and your child with the transition to school and beyond.
