Wixams Tree Pre-School
Wixams Tree Pre-School is part of the EYFS at Wixams Tree Primary School and caters for families who live or work in the local area. Here in ‘Acorn’ class, we offer an inclusive, safe and nurturing environment where we encourage every child to grow as individuals. Developing strong partnerships with parents and carers is highly important to us so that we can foster equality and diversity within our care and provision for the children.
Wixams Tree Pre-school is a one room, vibrant, stimulating learning environment which offers a wide variety of activities both inside and out, including: craft, malleable play, mark making, imaginary play, small world, construction and creative play across the seven curriculum areas of the early years foundation stage curriculum. Sand and water, imaginary play, den making and a wide variety of physical equipment is offered in the dedicated outside area.
Pre-school learning opportunities are developed through a mix of theme based topics as well as child led ‘in the moment’ learning opportunities. The learning in pre-school is through ‘play’. Learning through play enables children to develop social and cognitive skills, mature emotionally, and gain the self-confidence required to engage in new experiences and environments.
We recognise and value children’s particular strengths and talents, seeking to encourage their full potential. We work hard to celebrate all successes, whenever and wherever they occur, no matter how big or small. Children are encouraged to become well rounded and sociable. It is important to use that our children believe in themselves and are both confident and resilient.
Our vision is to provide all of our children with a first-class provision comparable with the very best pre-schools nationally. We also aim to develop those skills and qualities in our pupils that prepare them for their learning journey through education and will deliver success and resilience in later life.
At Wixams Tree Primary Academy we have a qualified SENCO- Nicola Boyle who has many years of experience working with children and families. Our teachers are confident and skilled in supporting children with SEND and emerging needs because of quality CPD sessions, the support of the SENCO and other agencies. We take SEND seriously and have undertaken a SEND audit to identify our areas of strength and areas for development. In our recent OFSTED inspection report it said that:
' Teachers plan well for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Consequently, pupils with SEND are well supported to meet their individual targets.'
We work closely working with multi agencies to ensure we get the right help at the right time for the right child.
Our Pre-School values:
Loving Inspirational Fun Educational
‘Be kind, be kind, be kind’.
